WOW! It’s been a year! March celebrates Cheeky Sumo’s first year and boy do we have some stuff to celebrate! We have done so much in our first year: shirts, belts, bags, shorts, partnerships, US Nationals, the Rain City Open, the Rollertown Showdown, the Empire Cup, the Sakura Cup, the Big Palm Sumo Open, and the SoCal Open!

Haru Basho 26
The question on every sumo fan’s mind coming into the Haru Basho is: Will Aonishiki do it? Will he be the sport’s first European yokozuna? Very exciting and I cannot wait to find out! The Haru banzuke dropped and I do not think there were many surprises. It does set up some matches that I can’t wait to see though. Fujinokawa is ranked high enough that we will get to see him match up against top of the banzuke. Atamifuji will get another run at the top to prove he belongs up there. (I hope) Kotoeiho gets another chance to stick in the Makuuchi.
US Sumo

The US Sumo National Championships are coming up on March 28th in Las Vegas NV! This event will decide who will represent the United States in the World Sumo Championships in Azerbaijan this year. Cheeky Sumo will be there with all the gear you need to get into the ring and to rep the sport. Come and say hello and pick up a US Sumo National Championships shirt!
Cheeky Sumo 1 Year Anniversary
It’s been one whole year since our first drop for Haru 2025. What a year it’s been. Cheeky Sumo was started as a way for Grand Sumo fans to find some cool, fun shirts to represent their favorite wrestlers. Since launch we have grown to make wrestling gear, support the sumo community, and make the best mawashi this side of Japan.

In our first year we partnered with the USSF, Dark Circle Sumo, Dallas Sumo, Florida Sumo, New York Sumo, Rain City Sumo, Honu Sumo, the Tennessee Sumo Association, and Black Cat Sumo to support events like the US Sumo Nationals, Rollertown Showdown, Empire Cup, Sakura Cup, West Cast Training Camp, and the US Hakuho Cup team. We worked with Florida Sumo to design their Big Palm Sumo Championship logo and event merchandise. Black Cat Sumo gets a portion of all sales of their shirts on CheekySumo.com back to their club. I even got in the ring and competed at the SoCal open! It was great and I can’t wait to go again.
At Cheeky Sumo, we aim to celebrate, educate, and support the sumo world with bold merch, fresh gear, and through partnerships with clubs and organizations that share our goals of growth and awareness of the sport.
Year 1 brought us people from across the globe—grand sumo fans, amateur sumo wrestlers, coaches, podcasters, and everyone in between. All forms of fandom. You taught us that sumo isn't just a sport—it's a community that lifts each other up.
For our anniversary, we're dropping a series of designs that celebrate exactly that: the sumo community.
